ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Submission Guidelines

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:
Monday, November 25th, 2019

The International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development (ISSBD) invites submissions for its 2020 Biennial Meeting which will take place June 21-25 on the island of Rhodes in Greece.

ISSBD encourages submissions from researchers at all career stages from all over the world. Our aim is also to be as diverse and interdisciplinary as possible.  If you plan to organize a paper or poster symposium, please invite people who may add to our disciplinary, theoretical and/or geographical diversity to participate at your symposium.

You will find below information regarding submission types and instructions.

PRESENTATION TYPES FOR ISSBD 2020

1. Paper Symposium

A cohesive cluster of research presentations and theoretical perspectives focused on a specific topic and emphasizing conceptual issues and an integration of findings from multiple countries.

Please note: The presenters of the symposium must represent more than one country. We encourage symposia organizers to invite presenters from different continents and/or disciplines.

A Paper Symposium should include

  • One Chair, with an optional second Chair
  • 3 presentations & a Discussant or 4 presentations without a Discussant

The Chair briefly presents the theme of the symposium. Presenters have approximately 15 minutes for their presentation. Finally, the Discussant provides an integrative overview. At least 15 minutes MUST be set aside for audience discussion.

Symposium proposals must include the following:

  • Integrative summary of 300 words prepared by the Symposium Chair
  • Name of the Chair(s) and of the Discussant and their affiliations
  • 3 or 4 individual abstracts complete with authors & affiliations.
  • Each abstract should not exceed 300 words
  • The Paper Symposium Chair needs to collect all abstracts, prepare the integrative abstract and submit the proposal

 Time allocated: 90 minutes per session

2. Poster Symposium

A cohesive cluster of individual research presentations can be submitted focused on a specific topic.

The Poster Symposium includes from 5 up to 8 poster presentations. The audience has time to read the posters and talk with individual presenters. Then, the Chair briefly presents the theme of the symposium, Presenters have 5 minutes each to summarize the key points of their work, and a Discussant provides an integrative overview. Then follows a general discussion.

Please note: The presenters of the symposium must represent more than one country. We encourage symposia organizers to invite presenters from different continents and/or disciplines.

A Poster Symposium should include

  • One Chair
  • 5-8 posters
  • 1 Discussant

Poster Symposium proposals must include the following:

  • Integrative summary of 300 words prepared by the Symposium Chair
  • Name & affiliation of the Discussant
  • 5 to 8 individual abstracts complete with names of authors & affiliations.
  • Each abstract should not exceed 300 words
  • The Poster Symposium Chair needs to collect all abstracts, prepare the integrative abstract and submit the proposal

Time allocated: 90 minutes per session

Poster size specification: 1,20 m length X 0,80 cm width

3. Individual Poster Presentation

Posters are individual, free-standing research presentations. They are the appropriate format when material can be explained briefly, is suited for graphic or visual presentation, and/or the presenter would benefit from high levels of interaction and discussion.

Applications for Individual Poster Presentations must include in addition to authors’ names and affiliations, a 300-word abstract.

Poster size specification: 1,20 m length X 0,80 cm width

 

GENERAL Instructions for submission: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

  • Abstracts must be submitted in English, in Times New Roman 12 font
  • Title: max. 150 characters, including spaces
  • Author(s)’ family name(s) followed by first name initial, in upper and lower case (e.g., Davies J.) are aligned left. Authors with different affiliations are noted with superscripts (1, 2, etc.) after their name. Name of presenting author is underlined.
  • The abstract text should not exceed 300 words
  • 2-5 Keywords

  • Paper Symposia & Poster Symposia must be uploaded by the Symposium chair who collects all Abstracts.
  • The Paper or Poster Symposium Chair prepares a word.doc which includes the following:
    1. Title of Symposium
    2. Name of chair and affiliations
    3. Name of the discussant and affiliations
    4. Each individual Abstract is placed in the order that it will be presented in the Symposium. Abstracts include title of presentation name of the authors as well as their affiliations. This word doc must be uploaded as a whole in submission portal.
    5. The presenting author should ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the Conference.

 

  • After completing your submission, you will receive through e-mail a unique number which will be your reference number that you need to know for all your communications with the secretariat or for any further inquiries you might have about your submission.
  • After the submission deadline, which is November 25th, 2019, no revisions can be made.
  • Presenting authors and Paper and Poster Symposia Chairs should have completed their registration by February 20th, 2020 in order for their presentation to be included in the conference program.
